FMR part number 1402b – Rocker complete with new rubber suspension £1,538.20
Also known as rear drive unit, fits all Messerschmitt KR200/201 1955-64. Later type as fitted to all models after chassis number 65186. Directly interchangeable with earlier units 1955 – 57 Refurbished to as new standard.
This early type has a dangerous weakness in the rear axle that causes catastrophic failure of the hub causing the rear wheel to become detached. See photo. New design rear axle eliminates this risk whilst maintaining the original casing.
Incorporates the following new parts: -
new type 25mm rear axle with SKF Rubber seal bearings and spacers
M10 wheel studs and centre hub to suit new Pressed steel is 3.5mm rear wheel 10mm Felge unlackiert 3.00x8 incl Schraubensatz.
Front pinion 2 x 6204-C-2Z FAG (6204-ZZ) Deep Grooved Ball

"it is a very good idea to replace the original 20mm axle with the modified type. There are 3 different types of 20mm axles, and the most dangerous type is the one there the plate under the brake drum is 4,3mm thick. owner in Sweden has had 4 broken axles of that type at his home. he writes the other ones with 5,5mm thickness are probably a bit better but I will never more drive with any kind of 20mm axle. They are only for museum use, not for the roads".
